Candle Care Guide

The first time you burn your candle, allow your wax to melt all the way to the edges of the jar - this is known as a melt pool and is especially important to achieve this on the first burn as it allows for a consistent burn and avoid tunnelling of your candle on future burns, maximising the life of your candle.

On subsequent burns, before lighting the candle, make sure there is no mushrooming on the wick. If there is, you need to trim this off before lighting to avoid the wick splitting. You can trim your wick with wick trimmers or with a pair of scissors, this will ensure the wick doesn’t curl into the wax whilst lit, or give off any black smoke. Make sure you clean off any residue that may fall onto the wax before lighting your candle

We recommend that you don’t blow your candle out but instead use either a candle snuffer or a wick dipper to extinguish the candle. A wick dipper tool provides a smoke-free and cleaner option for extinguishing candles. Use the wick dipper to dip the lit wick into the melted wax pool and the flame will extinguish without giving off black smoke or a strong burning aroma. When relighting your candle, ensure that there are no wick trimmings in the wax.

Avoid burning your candle for more than 4 hours at a time, any longer and the wax could over heat and discolour. The glass jar may get hot so be careful when putting the candle out, avoid touching and moving the glass candle jar at all times when the candle is lit or the wax is molten.

Always burn your candle on an even, fire-resistant surface, away from flammable items and out of reach of children and pets. Always burn your candle within sight.

If the candle is repeatedly smoking, flickering or the flame becomes high, extinguish the flame, let the candle wax cool and trim the wick before relighting.

Our jars can be fully recycled or reused for other purposes too - they can be a warming tea light holder or a jar to hold your make-up brushes!

Wax Melt Care Guide

Remove all packaging and place wax melt in the well of you wax melt burner.

Use a small 4-hour unscented tea light, larger tea lights are unsafe for wax melts as they may lead to over heating and damage to the burner.

Unlike candles, the wax melts will not burn away. Therefore you will need to change you melt(s) when it no longer smells as strong as you would like, this will usually be after 2-3 tea lights.

Always ensure your burner is completely clean and dry before every use. Do not add new melts to the existing wax, as this will dilute the scent of the new wax melts.

Always make sure your wax burner is on an even surface, away from flammable items and out of reach of children and pets. Do not move whilst the tea light is lit or the wax is molten. Never leave a burning candle unattended.

Do not burn for more than 4 hours at a time.

All our wax melts are packaged in glassine bags which are fully recyclable and biodegradable.
